Supporting and resourcing
Student research and creative activities

Welcome to the Honors Undergraduate Research Program. Thanks to the generosity of Bobby and Judy Shackouls we are able to support the research and creative activity of students in the Shackouls Honors College.

Shackouls Honors College encourages undergraduate students to participate in research to enrich their academic experience and prepare them for graduate school and their future career. Located in the Honors College, the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Discovery (URCD) supports students in finding hands-on opportunities to explore their interests, build valuable skills, and work closely with faculty and peers.  The Honors College is proud to provide funding opportunities for Honors students through our travel awards, research fellowships, and internship support programs.

Undergraduate research affords you the opportunity to apply what you already know to new issues that interest you, and allows you to develop new skills. It is our hope that you will learn what sort of creative work a scholar in your field does. You will meet others with similar interests, gain confidence, immerse yourself in the intellectual environment at MSU, and use your experiences to help you choose a future career path. The creation of new works fuels the joy of discovery. Find out where your imagination can take you.

If you have any questions, contact Associate Dean Dr. Anastasia Elder at aelder@honors.msstate.edu. We are here to help.
