Advising
The Shackouls Honors College offers advising to students in addition to meeting with their major (discipline) academic advisor.
Honors advising not only guides students to meet the requirements necessary to stay in good standing in the Honors College, but it also encourages students to take advantage of Honors course offerings in areas of interest to them. In addition to guiding students to academic success and Honors completion, Honors advisors help students identify opportunities across Mississippi State University, including opportunities to get involved in university clubs and organizations, become involved in the community, study abroad, pursue undergraduate research, apply for competitive scholarships and fellowships, and explore career and professional development.

This document explains the capstone requirement, offers examples, and includes the submission proposal form. This must be submitted fall term of Senior Year.
Earn honors credit for graduate coursework. This includes completing a split-level course as an undergraduate or taking graduate courses as part of an accelerated program. Must be completed in the first week of course and requires signature of instructor.
Earn honors credit for a 3000 or 4000 level course by engaging in a project that extends regular course work. This document explains the process, offers examples, and includes the submission form. Requires signature of instructor and must be completed by 10th class day of term.
A form to authorize faculty-supervised independent study project as an HON course. Requires description. Can be used for research.
A form to indicate participation in a tutorial with a faculty member in the tradition of undergraduate education at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
