Dr. C. LaShan Simpson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Since she started at MSU in 2013, she has been a champion for minorities in STEM. Dr. Simpson has long been engaged in empowering women and minorities in science and engineering through research opportunities in her laboratory and through leadership positions in the Biomedical Engineering Association of MSU (B.E.A.M.), an organization that she started in her department. In addition to her department service, Dr. Simpson is a co-Advisor for Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and a member of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Diversity Council. Her research interests are cardiovascular disease, vascular calcification, smooth muscle cells and inclusion in STEM.
