Honors Student to be Published

We are delighted to report that the Proceedings of the National Council for Undergraduate Research will publish Kylie Dennis's essay titled "Young she was and yet not so: The Revival of the Victorian Fairy-Story Heroine in Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings.'" Kylie is a sophomore English major in the Honors College. She is in the Cursus Honorum, loves the Romantics and Victorian Literature, and did research for Dr. Christopher Snyder's (Dean, Shackouls Honors College) Tolkien class on how the heroine of Victorian fairy-stories influenced Tolkien in his depictions of women in the Lord of the Rings. Dennis says she is "so grateful to have received constant guidance, encouragement, and financial support from the Shackouls Honors College, the English Department, and several devoted professors whose contributions proved invaluable in the process of creating this essay." She hopes to continue her participation in academic conferences in the future and wants to encourage other MSU students to take advantage of the incredible resources and faculty available to them.
