Travel Awards
The Honors Undergraduate Research Program provides grants for Honors students to travel to regional, national, and international meetings to present their research. These awards, limited to $750, are available throughout the year. The application procedure is as follows:
- Submit a HURP travel award application.
- Have your faculty advisor submit a letter of recommendation to our office. This may be done in two ways:
- by email to gthibaudeau@honors.msstate.edu, or
- by campus mail to the Shackouls Honors College at mail stop 9737.
- These materials should be submitted by January 15, 2010 for travel during the spring or summer of 2010 and September 1, 2010 for travel during the fall of 2010.
Grants will be awarded based on the quality of the application and the importance of participation in the conference/event to the applicant's long-term goals. Awardees are expected to submit a brief summary of their conference experience to the HURP office within two weeks of their return. They are also expected to present their work at the MSU Undergraduate Research Symposium to be held in the spring semester.
Eligibility: Applicants must be working on a research project with a faculty member at MSU, and be in good standing with the Shackouls Honors College.
